AllFocal Optics, specializing in nanophotonic lens technology for always-in-focus imaging, has secured $5.3 million in seed funding to accelerate its development of advanced lenses for extended reality (XR) applications. The funding round consists of $3.6 million (£2.8m) in equity, led by Speedinvest, with participation from 7percent Ventures, Another.VC, Martlet Capital, and prominent investors such as Mario Götze, Maximilian Odendahl (ex-CEO of Silexica) and Prashant Shah. Innovate UK also contributed $1.7 million in grant funding.

Purpose of financing

While further funding—estimated between £10-15 million—will be required to scale production, the company is on track to bring its first product to market within two years.
