Montréal, Quebec, Canada –
Cadstrom, an AI-powered platform helping electrical engineers design error-free electronic devices on the first try, has raised $6.8M USD in its Seed funding round. The funding announced on December 23, 2024, was led by Bison Ventures, with participation from Innovation Endeavors and AI2 Incubator, which had previously invested $650K in a pre-Seed round. The funding will help Cadstrom expand its design and partner testing program, enabling it to deliver advanced AI solutions directly to professional engineers in the U.S.
About Cadstrom
Founded in 2023, Cadstrom is addressing a critical pain point in the electronics industry: the costly and time-consuming design errors in printed circuit boards (PCBs), which are foundational to modern electronic products. The company’s proprietary Sigma Engine leverages generative AI and a deep understanding of physics to detect and resolve common design issues, significantly reducing development costs and time-to-market. By eliminating the need for multiple design iterations or “respins,” Cadstrom enables engineers to achieve up to 66% shorter design cycles.
Purpose of financing
With the new funding, Cadstrom plans to enhance its automated verification tools and expand its design and partner testing program. The company aims to work closely with professional engineers and product development agencies in the United States to further validate its technology and scale its impact.
CEO’s Vision
Margot Blouin, Founder and CEO of Cadstrom, shared:
“Most electronics designs undergo multiple time-consuming revisions, and this problem is only intensifying as electronics, AI, and connectivity become more pervasive. At Cadstrom, we aim to empower engineers to create robust designs on their first attempt, accelerating time-to-market. This funding is a critical milestone, allowing us to refine our tools and tackle the most pressing challenges engineers face.”
Investor Perspective
Tom Biegala, Founding Partner at Bison Ventures, commented:
“Margot and Scott developed a product they needed as hardware engineers. Cadstrom’s AI tools don’t aim to replace engineers but instead enhance their workflows by addressing tedious aspects of PCB development. Their approach enables faster, validated hardware launches, setting them apart in the industry.”
Looking Ahead
The electronics industry is experiencing unprecedented growth fueled by smart devices, IoT, and AI technologies. Yet, traditional PCB verification tools often result in costly design respins, adding over $100K to development costs and delaying timelines by up to six months.
Cadstrom’s innovative solutions are rewriting this narrative, offering engineers a tailored, efficient approach to modernize the Testing, Inspection, and Certification market. With its sights set on empowering engineers globally, Cadstrom is poised to become a significant player in the trillion-dollar electronics industry.
